Terms of Service

Using this service.

These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and the operator of WhatsMyName App for access to whatsmynameapp.net, its public pages, username and email research tools, optional Google connection, support form, and saved-history features (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, stop using it.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. If you use the Service for an organization, you must have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf. Do not use it where doing so is prohibited by applicable law, binding order, or a restriction that applies to you.

The Privacy Policy explains the information processed in connection with the Service.

A workspace for public-source leads.

The username tool checks an exact handle against configured public-source checks. The email tool reviews registration-style signals reported for an address. The interface organizes possible matches and the broader set of returned statuses, reasons, and source fields.

Standard scans can create browser- or account-linked tasks and retain positive matches. Privacy mode skips that application's task and history creation for the selected run, while the scan service still receives the identifier. The Service does not provide private-account or inbox access, credential verification, identity certification, or authorization to enter a restricted system. An email registration signal is not a data-breach report or proof that the address is controlled by a particular person.

Corroborate a signal before relying on it.

• A matching handle can be shared, reused, copied, impersonated, or unrelated to the person you are researching.
• A shared name, avatar, biography, or visual similarity is not enough by itself to establish identity or a relationship between accounts.
• A missing result, negative status, unknown response, or failed check does not establish that an account or public reference does not exist.
• Source data may be incomplete, stale, duplicated, or misclassified. A technically reachable URL can still be a generic or incorrect page.

Open the original sources, compare dates and context, seek independent evidence, and preserve uncertainty. You are responsible for decisions, reports, and actions based on your research.

Keep your research within a legitimate scope.

Use the Service only for lawful purposes and within a scope you are authorized to investigate. Depending on the circumstances, appropriate uses can include reviewing your own public exposure, approved defensive security work, brand monitoring, journalism, academic research, and authorized investigations.

Public availability does not remove privacy obligations, source rules, confidentiality duties, or other applicable limits. Submit and retain only what is needed for your research question, respect the rules of each source, and stop when the authorized task is complete.

Do not use the service to cause harm.

You must not use the Service to:

• Harass, stalk, threaten, dox, intimidate, discriminate against, or facilitate harm to someone.
• Commit fraud, impersonate people or organizations, phish for credentials, extort, or distribute malicious content.
• Access or attempt to enter a private account, mailbox, device, network, or restricted system without authorization.
• Conduct unlawful surveillance, profiling, screening, or monitoring.
• Use an unverified result as the sole basis for an employment, housing, credit, insurance, legal, safety, or similarly consequential decision.
• Overload or disrupt the site, perform unsupported automated collection, bypass rate limits or access controls, or interfere with security measures.
• Submit identifiers or content that violate another person's rights, applicable law, a contractual restriction, or a binding order.
• Represent a possible match or provider response as an independently verified fact.

We may restrict activity that appears abusive, disruptive, or inconsistent with these Terms.

Sources set their own rules.

Research depends on configured scan endpoints and the platforms represented in their responses. Submitting an identifier sends it and the selected check parameters to a scan service. Source behavior can vary with routes, login requirements, rate limits, geography, bot protection, shared-network reputation, and availability.

The site also uses optional Google OAuth, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google's favicon service, and external asset hosts. Opening a source link creates a separate request to that website. Those providers apply their own terms and privacy practices; a link, logo, or result does not imply an endorsement or partnership.

We do not control external content or guarantee that any provider will remain accessible or accurate.

Submit only what the task needs.

You are responsible for having an appropriate basis and any required permission to submit a username, email address, or support message. Do not submit passwords, authentication codes, API keys, private mailbox contents, payment details, or unrelated sensitive information.

A standard scan may create a visitor and history record without Google login. A first-party browser identifier links those records to the browser. Optional Google login can associate basic profile information with an application account. Anyone with access to the same browser profile may be able to view its saved searches.

Logging out or clearing a cookie does not itself delete stored records. Individual history tasks and the current account with linked history can be permanently deleted through the user interface. Those actions have no self-service undo and do not establish when separate support records, provider copies, logs, or backups are erased.

The contact form stores the optional name, reply email, selected category, message, reference number, status, and timestamps to receive and review a request. A reference confirms receipt rather than a promised response deadline. Support requests are separate from search history.

Coverage and service behavior can change.

Scans may return partial results or fail because of network conditions, source changes, API limits, maintenance, regional restrictions, or abuse-prevention controls. We do not guarantee complete coverage, a fixed scan time, a particular accuracy rate, or uninterrupted access.

We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue workflows, sources, categories, interfaces, or account features. You remain responsible for checking original evidence and deciding whether a finding is sufficiently supported for its intended use.

Respect the rights behind the material.

Rights in original website copy, interface elements, graphics, and software remain with their respective rights holders. Access to the Service does not grant permission to republish original material as your own.

ThinkPHP, libraries, datasets, and other open-source components remain subject to their own licenses and attribution notices. Third-party profiles, responses, logos, names, and trademarks remain the property of their respective rights holders. Displaying a result or linking to a source does not transfer ownership.

Use the service with appropriate judgment.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, security, completeness, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or loss of data, opportunity, goodwill, or profits arising from the Service, external content, or reliance on unverified results.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a responsibility, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Mandatory protections that apply to you continue to apply.

Changes, questions, and resolving concerns.

We may suspend or terminate access where activity violates these Terms, threatens the service or others, or where action is required by law or a provider. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that should reasonably continue after use ends, including ownership and applicable liability limitations, remain relevant.

Please first contact us with enough detail to understand a dispute or concern and allow a reasonable opportunity to discuss it. Applicable mandatory law and consumer protections are not displaced by these Terms. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

These Terms may be updated as the product or its operating rules change. The revision date is shown above. Continued use is subject to the published Terms; stop using the Service if you do not agree with them.
